My God! A friend has just moved to New Zealand, and today she wrote me a
note and said:

>We were at a talk the other day and I discovered to my horror that ferrets
>are considered pests down here because there are a lot of them and they eat
>up shrubs and leaves etc. We were shocked!! I told Ken that the ferrets
>who were pests were not related to Maddy or Theodore!!

What kind of ferret would this be? I understand that my ferrets are mustela
putorius furo - right? So what kind of ferret is running around wild in New
Zealand?
