Neil McShannon asked about food percentages.
Ferret food should have 30-35% protein and 15-20% fat -- toward the higher
numbers for younger ferrets, toward the lower ones for those over 3 years or
so. (Young kits and pregnant or nursing jills can easily handle even richer
food, if available, but too rich a food will make an adult get fat.) It's
very important that the main source of protein be animal-based -- look for a
meat as the first ingredient and several of the next few, too. Ferrets just
can't get th nutrition they need from vegetable protiens (ground corn, wheat
gluten, etc.).
