Well! Can anybody tell me why a ferret will pass up on a litterbox to poop
*just outside* the litterbox on the floor?  I just don't get it.
 
It isn't the height of the box; that's no problem.  And we do have "in the
litterbox" pooping on a regular basis.  But we also have "just beside the
litterbox pooping every single day.  This happens both in and out of the
cage, and I don't know why.  The litterboxes are kept clean, with just one
reminder from last time so nobody forgets why the litterbox is there.  Those
who actually produce IN THE BOX get a lot of praise and a small treat.  What
else can I do?
