Ferrets which start out as a dark or heavy silver usually lighten to meduim
or light silver by the time they are oldsters. I have a photo of a panda
jill I got when she was 1ish and she is now eight years old and completely
white except for a few dark hairs and one "patch".

Sables that start out as black sables usually transgress into regular
sables, Siamese or point patterns do the same.
