The purpose of this message is to better clarify the Ferret Registry's
purpose and mission. Some have been critical of us because we have stated
that we are like the AKC. Please don't take this so seriously...... We
are fully aware of the AKC's policy of registering and establishing of
pedigrees. We are not here to provide pedigrees for any ferret. Our
purpose is simple, to collect data on ferrets and their owners which can be
used to help promote the species and protect the rights of ferret owners.
The registry was established to collect data on: The number of ferrets,
how many are spayed or neutered, how many are descented, where the animals
were obtained, ferret life averages, and much more..... This data will be
available to all recognized ferret organizations and groups, free of
charge.......
To help maintain the database, we ask that ferret owners submit a one
time fee of $20.00 per ferret, which is good for the life of the ferret. We
don't ask for nor do we accept donations, monthly or yearly membership fees.
This organization and our mission may not be right for every ferret
owner. Many may feel that this is just another way for non register ferrets
to become alienated. This is not our purpose, we are 110% devoted to the
promotion and protection of all ferrets, wether they are participants in out
program or not.
We are also not in the business to discredit any other ferret related
organization or group, for we believe that there is truley strength in
numbers.
We are sorry if we have insulted or angered any individual ferret owners
or groups, for it was not our intentions to do so.......
