If anyone is interested in an almost perfect, ferret safe toy that won't
spoil or go rotten anytime soon, try this:
 
Buy a bird KONG toy - it is a red rubber "blob" like a snowman (three spheres
getting larger) made to tolerate bird beaks and ferret teeth.  Spongy enough
to get a grip on, but tough enough to not be able to tear it apart (unless it
gets old and hardens - stale rubber will rot).
 
try it - just the small bird size though....
