Hi all,

I've seen several posts about wanting to smuggle ferrets on board planes
in either carriers of coats. DON'T DO IT ! I picked my parents up from the
airport the other day, and found out most of the airports are becoming
fanatics about security. Since I was going to park my car to go in and wait
for them, I had a state trooper want to inspect my car for possible
explosives. When I met my parents, I found out that when they checked in
their *suitcases* were opened, and when they went through the metal
detector, they had to open their carry on baggage.

Given the current level of airport paranoia, I would not want to risk
smuggling the beastie in your coat; they might want to check suspicious
lumps, nor would I try to lie about what was in a carrier. If they can't
see it, and recognize it, they might very well demand you take it out so
they can be sure there is nothing in the carrier that shouldn't be there. I
would hate for someone to try sneaking their fuzzies in and have anything
happen. I have absolutely no idea how airlines would prosecute, but I
wouldn't want to be the one to find out.

Of course, there is the possibility that this is only east coast
paranoia, but I wouldn't advise taking the risk.
