Hi all,
After being a pet of many a ferret for 20+ years, (and thinking I knew
everything about ferrets), I've finally had a nightmare come to fruition...
Late Fri. night/early Sat. morning, my buddy Reno, one of my fuzzies went,
exploring on his own, and got hisself lost :-( It was a very hot weekend,
and I'm sure that if he knew the way home he would have come home (they have
a soild state air conditioner) , but he is just not that smart. He was
probably going "Oh look a whole new world to poke around in, let's see
what's over here, and there, and now I'm lost..."

I've done every thing I can, (in Ca.), to find him. I've gone around to
as many neighbors as prudent, and made discreet inquiries, offering a $100
reward, walked around calling for him until I've brought attention to myself,
all to no avail.

I'm now in a catch 22 position:
If I put up reward posters or notify the `animal shelter' that I've lost
a ferret, then I'm admitting guilt to the crime of owning a ferret in Ca.
If I do what I've all ready done it may not be enough...

Either way, if Reno is turned into the `animal shelter', he will be destroyed
out of hand...

It REALY sucks to live in California sometimes. I could go on ranting
and raving about `police states' and the restrictions of personal freedoms,
all that kind of stuff (one of the reasons I left N.J.), but it still won't
help find my carpet shark.

To make matters worse, Silky, my other fuzzy, is going nuts looking all
around the house, trying to find Reno, while also looking at me with the
saddest "where is that pain in the neck, I miss him" look. Reno was great
at helping me sort my laundry. He had a thing for used underware, no socks,
T-shirts, or clean underware, it had to used underware, which he would then
go off and hide, until I had no more. I'm worried about Silky going
psychotic (I already am) so I drove to Reno Nevada Mon. (530+ mile drive,
to pick up a new kit, but there are none to be found in that area of the
country. Apparently because of the current heat wave, no ferrets have been
shipped from Canada or New York, in over a week, some shipments are due on
Fri.

Oh well I've gone on long enough, so go look in on your fuzzies for me...
(to make sure they are where they are suposed to be :-))

Later,
-jay-

P.S. The FLM is a ray of sunshine in the other wise dark world of Ca. It
          keeps me connected.
