I live in New York City (Staten Island.) I purchased a ferret while in New
Jersey.  I signed a "temporary" permit and have 20 days in which to send
this card in.  Should I send it in?  I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to
own a ferret in New York when I made the purchase.
 
If I don't send it in, will the New Jersey "authorities" notify New York?
I gave my real name and address at the pet-store, again, not knowing I was
about to do something "illegal."
 
Is there anyone organizing any sort of "petition" to make New York change
it's law?
