Sorry to everyone about being a few days behind, but I'm trying to catch up...

    James - while discoloration is a sign that a tooth may be devitalized,
you are right on the other signs - pain, difficulty eating, (and discharge
from around the tooth or through adjacent skin) - and if there isn't much
else going on, let's just watch it for now.  Ferrets have lots of broken
teeth, especially canines, but few problems as a result.
