    Debbie - I have heard many complaints on this behavior over the
years, and I've come to feel that this is just a vice.  I've never been
able to track any dietary defiency that they have.  Perhaps the salty
taste is what they like - are these also ferrets that like the taste of
human sweat or other salty substances....
 
    Most of these ferrets go on to lead perfectly normal healthy lives
in all other facets....
