I haven't called anybody at MF on this specifically, but I was under the
impression they are strictly a breeding facility, not a research facility.
I understand they sell ferrets and beagles for research, but I am unaware of
them doing any research on site.
Consequently, it would be hard for them to sell ferrets that had been used
for research.
Now, if a research lab is selling ferrets after they are finished with them,
that's a different issue. I know of instances where surviving research
ferrets have been turned over to shelters, but not SOLD. I don't have a
problem with that and hopefully others don't either. Any ferret that
survives research should be allowed to have a comfy life somewhere. The
best shot is thru a ferret shelter. Most ferret shelters are no-kill
shelters and a research ferret could stand a chance of becoming adopted. It
is illegal for a research lab to sell ferrets to a pet store for resale.
