Thanks to all who offered congrats and info on introducing our new six week
old fuzzy to her older (six month old) brother. Here's just an update...
just my gossip, no important info. :-)
We named her "Simmie McGuinn." Simmie because (this is long and wierd) one
of our favorite songs is Rusted Root's "Send Me On My Way." Except when we
first heard it, Mel said "what's the words? Simmie and the Whale?" And the
....what's it called when a song's lyrics are misunderstood? Anyway, it
stuck. Well, when we got the new fuzzy, we said "she's just like Simmie,
with all these big whales (the dogs, the kids, the older ferret) around
her..." so the name Simmie stuck. Also McGuinn, b/c we read her color was a
"McGuinn Sable" and liked it.
So. Little Simmie sleeps a lot. We put her in another cage with a solid
bottom and her own food/box/etc. We cut a hole in a shoebox, and she sleeps
in there. We noticed that she's hidden everything she can fit in there: two
dishtowels, a number of food chunks, one raisin, one toilet paper roll, a
scrap of cloth, and she's tried to drag a huge fleece hat in, but it doesn't
fit. It just blocks the door.
She can crawl underneath the closet door. Well, except when we had her bell
on, and she got stuck under the door and screached and screamed. She also
had worked the colar down around her belly and couldn't breathe. Silly
ferret. We blocked the closet door. :-)
She HOLDS STILL, believe it or not, and sleeps in your lap. Coco won't do
that. Definately different personalities.
One more note on this long post. I went and got some kitten food instead of
cat food...I'm mixing IAMS with some ferret food and a squirt of
Ferretone...and Coco had diarreha (?) today. Do you s'pose it was from the
change in diet? No other symptoms.
Okay, I'm off. :-) Gotta go read the er newsgroup. :-)

fluff-ball, and the rest of the zoo.....
