Visit the Vet?

Wayne,

You asked if you should take your ferret to the vet. A resounding "YES",
particularly since you have no history at all on it. A ferret needs a
Canine Distemper vaccination yearly, and a rabies vaccination yearly. At
the same time your vet can check over your ferret for general health - ears,
nails, teeth or anything else that might need attention. Potentially
serious problems caught and treated early can save its live.

Ken,

I enjoyed your story about the Green Poo. Sounds like you found yourself a
real ferret knowledgable vet out there. I got myself into some trouble a
while ago suggesting that all Green diarrhea was not ECE. Green really
means that it just went through a tad fast. The grainy apparence is just
some undigested ferret kibbles. As long as it doesn't last more than a day
don't worry too much, especially if you've recently moved, changed their
food, added a new ferret, or anything else a ferret might consider
stressful. More than twice in a day, I'd start watching for dehydration and
maybe warming up the Pepto Bismal or Kaopectate and Duck Soup. More than a
day, same as above but off to the vet pronto.
