After seeing all this talk about squeak toys bothering ferrets I just
thought I'd add my comment. :) My 2 don't seem to really care much about
theirs. If you squeak it they'll look but then they quickly become
disinterested. Maybe the pitch of it is different. Even when they play
rough with it and squeak it themselves they don't seem to care much.
I wonder if mine are a tad bit weird anyway--they aren't very interested
in hiding toys and only mildly defend ones they have claimed against
myself, my fiance, or each other.
 
On using the squeak to get them to come--I think that's a great idea. We
have found that shaking the raisin can a time or two works great also.
They're to a point that if you show them the bright yellow lid without
shaking the can they'll come to that too.
 
Anyway, just my $.02 worth :)
