We have found that by finding something the ferret doesn't like the smell
of, and placing it on the spot in a daily basis, the critter will stop
scratching. Ours completely hates the smell of rubbing alcohol. We had
to try several things, though. Be careful not to pick something that he
likes, he might try to lick it and get sick. Anyway, after about three
days of applications, we don't have to put it on any more. He just
leaves the door alone.
