    Chere - I certainly agree wth you.  Everyone with ferrets in heartworm
endemic areas should check with their vets about getting them on a
heartworm prevention program.  It's so simple - just part of a tablet or a
liquid only once a month - just like you do for your dogs.
 
    Florida, where Chere is from, seems to be especially bad - most
reported cases occur there, and there is an extremely high rate of
heartworm disease in dogs, too.
 
    Being inside is absolutely no protection - the disease is transmitted
by mosquitoes, which come indoors, too.
 
    This is a devastating disease that is so easily prevented - talk to
your vet about getting your ferret on prevention today.
