    There's no problem in getting a second opinion, even if your truxt your
vet.  A broken tail can be sa source of pain to a ferret for many years -
just as arthritic joints are to us.  I'm not familiar with tails falling
off ferrets after they are borken - there has to be an interruption of the
blood supply, such as you would see with a crushing injury.
 
    But if it is truly broken - it will be less than functional, and the
tip should be removed to prevent further discomfort to the ferret.  It's a
simple surgery that should take no more than 15 minutes or so.
