Hello all,

I have been reading the FML for a few weeks now and have seen many
postings regarding the green diarrhea virus-disease(?). I have just
read the Green Mytery Virus Faq and have some questions.

In the Faq Dr. Williams stated that "Naive animals being brought into
close proximity with recovered animals should be expected to break with
diarrhea." I understand this to mean that a ferret fully recovered from
the "greenies" is capable of passing the virus to another ferret. Am I
understanding this correctly? If I introduce my child to someone's who
has had this virus will mine contract it?

The Faq also states that "Once they have had it, they are immune from
getting it again and will in all probability pass it on to their offspring."
I cannot swear to this, but I thought I read a posting on the FML (I am still
looking through the digests to find it) that said a ferret can come down with
the green diarrhea even after already having it before. Is this true?

In humans I understand that a virus is resident in a person's body once
cquiring it (e.g., Herpes) and will recurr occasionally throughout one's life.
Does this apply to ferrets as well?

I am aware that this is virus is relatively new and is still being studied. If
there are answers available to these questions I would love to hear them or at
least be referred somewhere that I may research this further. If these issues
have already been discussed please forgive my redundancy.

I am thanking you in advance for any information you might be able to give.

My deepest condolences to those of you who have lost a loved one.
