Linda Doran <[log in to unmask]> wrote in response to someone suggesting
that the spelling of California as Kalifornia was something fascist:

>Personally, I'd like to keep it that way...
[BIG, this is just to clear up some ugly rumors and put a stop to
this foolishness. --Mike]
There is nothing wrong with the letter "k". "Kalifornia" originally
appeared on the FML in some Fer Federation stories (a spoof on the Star
Trek: The Next Generation TV show) about ferrets in space. These stories
were written by my wife and myself.
Kalif Ornia <-- as it orginally appeared on the FML was just a spoof name
for some "bad guys" that the Fer Federation were supposed to have a
confrontational relationship with.
Geez, give it a rest already. (Not you, Linda, whoever it was that
suggested fascism as the motivation behind the spelling. I forget who
it was.)
May the Golden State become as enlightened as its name pretends to be!
