To prevent your weasel(s) from digging in carpet:
 
Go to your local Home Depot (or Home Quarters, or whatever), and buy some
of that clear vinyl runner, the kind that's got wavy lines on top, and nubs
on the bottom.  It's for putting your muddy shoes on so your carpet won't
get dirty.  It comes in rolls, and can be cut with heavy scissors.  Cut a
square out of the corner, and slide it under the door to cover the prime
digging area:

       vinyl runner
 
It can be cut to shape to fit under sliding closet doors, etc.
