In a petstore in front of a ferret display,
"I wouldn't have one of those things-they'll turn on you!"
(Suppose this person ever handled one?)
        At the vet's office from someone who should have known,"You have to
give them things to chew on, you know, their teeth are always growing."
(Bunnicula, the vampire ferret?)
        From my Dad when he comes to visit and I bring out the fuzzies,
"Ferrets are bloodthirsty little animals."
(Well, so far I guess I've been lucky.)
        Actually, three years ago when I met my first ferret up close,
I, too, was apprehensive.  (They carry off babies from their cribs-and
if you stare at them too long you'll go blind ;) .)
        Enough funny stuff-I'm putting off asking about a troubling
occurence until next time.
