I know this is totally non-ferret related but I have had much experience
with neupogen. My daughter Melissa underwent a year of chemotherapy for
treatment of brain cancer and took injections of neupogen (GCSF) daily
after she got each of her rounds of chemo. The chemo drugs inevidably knock
the white blood cell count down to zero and what the neupogen did was to
boost it back up once it did drop to zero. Without this drug I am sure that
Melissa would have spent many more months in the hospital because of the
nasty things she would have caught from everybody around her while she had
no white cells count. The Neupogen boosted her ANC (absolute neutrophil
count) and probably is one of the key reasons why she's healthy today. It
is an amazing drug. Absolutely amazing.
