Mark et al. asked about Alice, who drools and seems lethargic and
dazed; and Victoria Hadfield asked about her friend Maragret's Boo,
whose back legs aren't working properly.

Both sets of symptoms are fairly common in insulinoma (islet cell
tumors). Hind leg weakness can also show up with lymphosarcoma.
Blood glucose levels are a good test for insulinoma: Dr. Williams has
said, "Animals with blood glucose levels less than 60 mg/dl should be
strongly suspect of having one or more of these tumors."

I'm sure others with much better credentials than I have will offer
more suggestions, as well.

Tasmin Liddle asked about ferret carrying bags:
Our two ferrets share a rectangular "sports" duffle bag with a
cardboard bottom, about 18 X 10 X 10 inches (45 X 25 X 25 cm). It has
two zippered mesh pockets on one of the long sides, so we removed the
bag behind one of the pockets to make a mesh window. It also has two
small end pockets, which are very handy for carrying leashes, toys,
Linatone, and extra food and water bottles. For a litter pan, we use
a Rubbermaid plastic storage container about 9 X 5 X 4 inches (22 X 12
X 10 cm), the rectangular one made for ice cream or bread. We bored
two holes in the pan and we fasten it to one end of the bag using wire
through holes poked in the bag. A thick layer of taped-in newspaper
and maybe a -little- litter is all it needs; more litter just gets
kicked around the bag.
