I just wanted to share a story about my first ferret, Beauregard. I got him
for my 12th birthday (I think it was 12) and my sister got Anabelle at the
same time. Both kits were introduced to Socks, a short little mutt, and
Dormilon, an orange tabby. The dog adored her new 'puppies' and the three
would play for hours. The cat pretty much ignored them. A few months later I
was given a nine month old Chinese Shar-pei. For those of you that don't
know, that's one of those wrinkle dogs. Randy was no match for the little
bandits, but he didn't know it. It was most amusing to see Randy running
around the house with two ferrets with their teeth sunk into his skin,
dangling from the folds. He looked like he had live ferret stoles. The funny
thing is, Randy either didn't mind, or didn't notice. Eventually the ferrets
got used to the huge addition to the family and didn't lunge for folds of skin.
 
The ferrets and both dogs have long since gone to animal heaven but the cat,
now nearly 16 years old, is still around. I have three other ferrets and a
Samoyed (white sled dog). The cat still tends to ignore the ferrets but
Beckett ADORES him and follows him everywhere. He's my little luvy-bunny
anyway. This morning I saw the cat jump down from the top of the piano,
where he was sitting to avoid the kids, and start licking Beck's ears and
face. When the cat noticed me watching, he immediately jumped back up to the
piano. I think he was embarrassed. :)
 
Okay, enough rambling... just wanted to share.
