I disagree with your vet. During the 'Great Escape' escapade  (Ferrets +
Cat Door = Peter & Karen searching the back 40) we had to deal with a year
ago, Bandit and Coco picked up numerous ticks. I was picking ticks off them
for more than two weeks. The ticks were very small, and we didn't find most
of them until they started to swell.
