As you suggested, this one is hard to believe.  But the quote a very wise
person, learned in the ways of animals, comes to mind .  That sage said
while small animals are'nt frequently not so bright in the sense of being
able rationate, they sometimes exhibit a sensitivity that astounds us.
EEEEEdith may just be such a case.
 
Quite an amazing story. And through a phone call!!
