Just a word of warning regarding cloth, used for bedding, for your little
guys. A few months ago I glanced in at our ferrets cage to find Frisky, one
of our little girls, hanging by her neck from the suspended basket that they
sleep in. It seems that an edge of the old toweling, we had been using as
bedding, had frayed and her head got caught between the strands. In her
efforts to free herself she had the cords twisted very tightly around her
neck, and was limp and barely conscious. Had I arrived a few minutes later
she would certainly have been dead. Needless to say we are now extremely
carefull as to the types of material that we provide, using only safe
non-fraying types. This danger never occured to me up to that time, but I
have since heard of other ferrets dying in similar incidents.
