Hello all;
     Well' Casper got me but good. Last night I was holding him on my chest when
he started licking my face. I was petting him real nice like and then out of
the blue he bit me on the snozz! And I mean hard. Then the stupid human did
something real intelligent, I pulled him off!! Real dumn in retrospect. I
now have a 1/2" long gash in my nose. It's not a pretty sight. I really
can't say as I blame Casper. For all you new owners out there, I have
learned a valuable lesson that you need not repeat. If you get nipped bit or
what ever, * don't Pull *. It only makes it worse.
 
     I have noticed some things in my ferret that are starting to make me
wonder if he wasn't abused at somepoint in his life. When he comes out of
his cage after a nap he is hesitant if your standing there, and many times
he will go right back in until you leave. He also seems to be real leery of
bare feet. I mean real leery. I think given the chance he'd bite you a good
one. The other thing I have noticed is that he shivers like crazy after you
pick him up. I may be way off base about this but It really looks like I
could be right.
 
     Now back to the biting, *incident?*. I still wouldn't trade casper in.
Today he's just like nothing ever happened. I think if you get an older
ferret don't let your guard down too soon. There may be some hostility from
someone else still built up in there and you may just be the target of it's
aggression.
 
    I have played with casper all day today and he even chased me around the
house a little. So it's not as if he turned into a vicious monster. He's
still casper and I'm still a dumb human!:-)
 
    One thing I'd like to pass on to other newbie or soon to be ferret owner's.
When not if you get nipped, because from what I've read and from what I've
experienced you will get a nip of some sort. Don't let it shake you, I got
mad at first then I remembered what I read in the ferret FAQ and on the FML.
I tapped him reall lightly on the nose, told him firmly no! then held him
for about ten minutes before I let him down. The first thing I thought was
to get really angry and even the score but that would have accomplished nothing.
 
I'll stop before Big has to edit me for being way to long. Thank for
listening to me babble.
