Dave - it does sound like some nerve injury. Hopefully, an X-ray was
taken to make sure there is no fracture.
Actually, ferrets seem to have good regenerative properties, much more
than I have seen in dogs and cats. As long as they have deep pain in the
leg - meaning if you squeeeze the toe they try to pull it away, they often
will recover very nicely. Don't take it as a guarantee of a return to full
function, but she should do fine.
ccc However, the more she rests, the faster it will regenerate. My
prescription - strict cage rest for a week, and a gradual return to action.
No running hell bent for leather for a while.
