Waardenburgs Syndrome

How is this condition carried genetically? Can a ferret carry the gene
without being deaf? Would then two hearing ferrets carrying the gene produce
kits with Waardenburgs? I had also heard that a blaze by itself would not
indicate waardenburgs but if the face is white up to or past the eye then
waardenburgs is a possiblity. Anybody know anything about this condition
except that it can cause deafness?
