hi. i just read your posting regarding your two males and will
they get cuddlesome, etc. well, i have three males and three
females at the moment. My boys are all a little over a year.
My females are 4 months (two of them) and 4 1/2 years. I had
five ferrets when I lived in Colorado, also. I am not a
breeder, etc., but my experience with ferrets is:
THEY DO NOT CUDDLE very much. They are too wiggly and curious
to sit still for that long. However, as you get to know your
boys, you will notice that they definitely exhibit signs of
affection.
For example, one of my babies (Angel) ALWAYS comes running
out when i go into their room (my kids have their own room).
No matter what else she is doing. and it's not for treats,
etc. i don't often give them treats. and joey, one of my
males, who was very abused by his former owner and was
incredibly shy when i got him, is starting to really pay
attention to me, running over to see me, etc.
Don't expect them to be like a dog or cat. They do love you,
but will show it in very different ways.
As far as biting -- my experience has been that by a year or
a little older most of the ferrets will stop biting. Of course
there are always the odd ones . . . but don't worry. Spike
(one of my other babies) bites a lot, too, mostly when I am
flea combing the others and always on my toes, but she seems to
be doing it less. Your boys need time to adjust and get to
know you. GOOD LUCK!
