Thanks to all (Denise, tle) who sent support (via Internet, Godnet,
Karmanet, etc.net) to Miranda (and us) during her extended illness.
It really means a lot to us! As I explained back in FML 943, Miranda was
hospitalized for a week - many blood tests, injections, anti-biotics, even
an X-ray revealed (we think) that she had some kind of irritation in her
bowel.
(She's down to 1.1 pounds). Then, she came home for a week, we gave
her oral antibiotics, one of which she did *not* like at all, so we went
back to our vet, and went back to injections every 2 days for that one.
Now she's all through the injections, etc.
She's still not her same old self, though. I don't know if she got used
to licking food off Madeline's (my spouse) finger or what. But, she will
*not* eat her Science Diet food that she's always eaten. During her
illness, we gave her some canned food the vet gave us (can't remember the
name of it right now) which we heat in the microwave. She'll eat that
now, plus her usual array of favorites (bagels, melon, raspberry, cooked
oatmeal, linatone, etc.) But, she'll only lick her Science Diet -- she
did start eating the SD again for a short while when she was on the
antibiotics. So now, we're not sure what to make of this. Her activity
level is pretty good (she hasn't made chunnering noises, though), she is
drinking water and going to the bathroom OK, she's just not eating enough,
being really fussy about what she'll eat, and sometimes she grinds her
teeth a little bit while eating.
Anyway, we appreciate everyone's support and look forward to longer play
times.
