To comment on Debbie R's post on the 16-17th of August:
There is the bulldog look in ferrets - shorter nose length in relation to
where the eyes and the ears are set, and
the bull dog Effect - which has not really been seen in ferrets - nose flat
with the face as in the buldog dog and the persian cat. These animals suffer
from tooth allignment and breathing problems.
Ferrets with a shorter, rounder, stockier face are not being bred to shorten
it any further. In fact, males come in three classes - whippet, standard and
buldog. Females only come as standard and whippet - I have never seen a true
bulldog female, though onne of Schultz's girls ure is about as close as they
come....
I have never had a snaggle tooth ferret bred in or out of my line, but I have
seen shelter ferrets, with normal or whippet sized heads, with the tooth
problem. There could be a lot more than the head shape to effect this.
