Hi everyone. I wanted to share our latest adventure with our 5 kids.
Whoever says these creatures aren't intelligent hasn't spent enough time
with them. Before we took on parenting, we had a candy dish on our
coffee table. A round, flat, glass dish, filled with candy and LOTS of
Rainblo bubble gumballs. Each were individually wrapped. Only one
ferret showed any interest in these gumballs. (Of course, we only had 2
at this time) She got the greatest thrill of stealing a gumball and
biting down on the wrapper to hear it "pop" and then she'd lick her
reward until her face was covered with the dye. It was much too big for
her to chew. Anyway, we about had enough of this habit, so we thought
we'd outwit her...I bought a small gumball machine - one of those
antique looking metal ones with a glass globe that you have to deposit
coins into....well, for almost 7 months now, she's patiently waited,
watching each person as they turn the handle and out pops the gumball.
Here all this time we thought it was a "longing" look...like "boy does
that look good". Little did we know that she was really plotting her
strategy by studying the situation. I came home from work yesterday to
find the coffee table had been "cleared off" and on the floor layed a
very broken gumball machine. About 3 or 4 gumballs remained in the
globe, and there were a handful on the floor next to the machine. The
rest were...ahem..missing. I'm still finding "sucked on" gumballs all
around the house. They all tried to look pretty innocent when I walked
thru the door yesterday. It was a look like "I don't notice anything
different, do you guys??? Nope, nothing's different around here
mum...how was your day?" Then from behind the chair emerged our
culprit...face stained BLUE from licking all the gumballs!!!!
After close examination, it was clear that none of these gumballs were
salvagable...all were licked clean of most of their color! It took her
almost 7 months, but she managed to "free her gumballs".
Mish & the free-er of the gumballs..."Salt".
