Yesterday I took Foxy Lady (female, 3 yrs old) to the park for the first time
since last summer. Foxy likes to be carried but I would occasionally put her
on the ground for her to some exploring. One of these time, no sooner had I
put her down than I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. There was
a squirrel, about twice Foxy's size (Foxy Lady is somewhat petite). This
squirrel was totally fascinated by Foxy, it kept creeping closer, would then
stand up to get a good look and then creep closer again. At one time it was
only three feet from Foxy (by then I had taken up the slack in Foxy's leash
and was prepared to chase the squirrel away if it got any closer). Finally,
it climbed this tree and then took a position where it could observe Foxy.
All this time Foxy either did not notice it or ignored it (I think Foxy did
not notice the squirrel). Meanwhile, a couple of joggers and passerbyers had
stopped and it was all we could do to not laugh out loud. I wonder if that
squirrel is still trying to figure out what Foxy was.
