Dr Williams,

Thanks for the reply! The reason I was asking is our male ferret (who has b
een neutered and descented) has been extreemly aggressive towards our female (a
lso altered) We are going on our 2nd year of owning him and 3rd year of owning
the female. We have never seen this behavior before. So nights they are cage
d (so we can sleep). When in the cage Milo (the male) will get a hold of Tish
's (the female) nect and not let go. She will wake us up with her screaming. S
he also has small light brown marks behind her ears. We have now separagted th
em at night into different cages. This doesn't happen too often during the day
becasue she is smaller and faster than him and can get away. For awhile now h
e has also been sniffing and licking her under side. (from behind)
The event that made me start thinking was one night they were loose and i
heard her screaming and hissing so i went to rescue her and he was laying flat
on her back while biting her neck. That gave the idea that maybe something was
happeing with him. Then about a week or two later they were in there cage (get
ting transported) and he was biting her so before i separated them i watched fo
r a minute (no blood was being drawn so i thought it would be ok to see what wo
uld happen if i let it go.) Well i couldn't believe it. he had her by the next
and she stopped making noise, then he lowered his grip to near her shoulders
(which she didn't like too much) then he flipped her over and layed on her stom
ach when still holding her neck. Well she really didn't like that and was able
to get away to the other side of the cage.

-So basically if he is in heat then all we can do is wait it out and try
to keep her save. Of course she is just getting over an infection in her
intestins. Could he have sensed she was sick and picked on her because of that
? Well i guess we will have to watch and see how he is with her now that she
is better.

   -Again thanks for the reply

-Tish (why did you give me those awefull drops in my mouth)
-Milo (what's going on, how come Tish is caged all the time, i want to play)
