Yes, yet another post asking about this topic! Actually, I think this
question is at least slightly different. We've always been really careful
about having our guys vaccinated almost exactly a year following their last
shots, even though I know that a few weeks is unlikely to ever really matter.
But as the number of ferrets in the house seems to keep increasing <g>, I'd
like to try and shift their vaccinations to be at the same time of year - it'd
be a lot easier to bring everyone to the vet at one time than to keep going
back every couple months. Since I don't want anyone to go more than a year
between vaccinations, some would obviously have to go less than a year if I'm
going to end up with all the ferrets vaccinated at the same time. I assume
this would not normally be a problem. But one of my guys had a bad reaction
last year. He didn't go into anaphylactic shock - we're not talking a
seriously life-threatening reaction here - but he was still a VERY sick little
ferret. This year he'll get antihistamines ahead of time, and hopefully that
will prevent another reaction. But is there any further risk of reaction by
his having this vaccination, say, 9 mos. after the last one, rather than a year
later?
