Hi. I have been reading for a while, but this is the first time I have
posted. Actually, I enjoyed reading the story about ferrets and snow, and
found myself scanning the skies here waiting for the first snowfall, so
that the little monsters and I could go play!
By way of introduction, I have the delight of sharing an apartment with two
ferrets--Abercrombie and Fitch. I have had Fitch since I came to grad
school, when I took him for the summer from someone that I didn't know who
couldn't take him home. This person told me that Fitch (at that time
called Homie) wouldn't use a litter box, would bite anyone that came close
to him, and couldn't be trusted to be let out of his cage. Well, not long
after I took him (and renamed him) Fitch was cuddly, used his box, and
hated to be kept in his cage because he loved to play so much. I later
found out that his previous owner had mistreated him and on occasion fed
him beer and threw him around the room. It was at that point that Fitch
stayed with me for good. I later came upon Abercrombie this past year
while I was driving, when he darted out in front of my car in a rainstorm.
Fortunately, my car has good brakes, and Abie and Fitch get along like they
were brothers.
I recently found that Abercrombie loves to play with the light beam from a
flashlight (in addition to his other loves--my ficus, the garbage and my
shoes). He tied himself up in knots trying to catch it, unfortunately to
no avail. Anyone else tried this new toy? Fitch is more of a squeaky toy
guy, although he recently discovered that the cordless phone makes neat
little beeping noises when you step on it, too.
Thanks for listening!
