Hi!  Stephanie with Ferrets Etc. in Colorado, just thought it was time I put
my 2 cents in.  Back about 1 1/2 years we got hit with ECE up at Christy
house(she is the vice pres. of our club and one of the shelter heads) and she
lost a few ferrets, lucky for us I did not get hit so we closed off her house
to rescue and used mine only.  The ones lost where all old and already immune
compromised.    Well about 6 months  ago I got hit and she did again, some of
here own got it for the second time and almost lost the fight.  She did loss
2 of her own,  unfortunatley and I lost 4 shelter ferrets and almost lost my
Twilights Angel who was a year at the time.  Well, we tried to direct all
ferrets not exposed to foster homes, but some we could not turn away.  just
then a "miracle treatment" came along.  At least we love it.  It is called
Colloidal Silver, it is a natural anitbiotic and seems to work great with the
ECE virus.  We started to use it right away and have not lost one ferret
since we started to treat with it.  Even the ones on the edge of life came
back and are doing great now,  I know nothing is a miracle cure, but this has
worked for us so far.  Now every ferret in the shelter gets run on it when
they come in and we have had great results.  those with no signs do not seem
to get it, those with signs of it clear up in 24 to 48 hours and the real
sick it takes about a week.  Of course we treat with fluids and more with the
real sick, but we love the Colloidal.
I also bleach twice a day in hopes to keep everything under control, we can
not close our shelter, but I will do EVERYTHING in my power not to put one at
risk.
Anyway just thought some of you might find the Colloidal worth checking into,

It is good on other things also, clears up ear infections, wounds, Our mascot
Skittles had to have her spleen out and she gets it everyday to help her
immune system.  Hey it even helped a prolapsed rectum in less than 24 hours
when nothing else worked.
Until we get a cure this helps us and a few veterinarians out here are now
using it with great results also.
