I saw "Kindergarten Cop" about a month ago, and all around, I thought
it was a positive depiction about ferrets. Rabies were not mentioned,
and when Arnold Schwarznegger brought the ferret into the classroom,
there was suprisingly no protest from the school administration.
When the kids first encountered the ferret, the asked "Does it bite?"
to which Arnie responded "No, he *never* bites". That was probably
a setup for the ending when the bad guy is holding the little boy
in a hostage situation, and the ferret crawls out of the little
boy's jacket, then climbs up the little boy's shoulder, then up to
the bad guy's shoulder and bites him on the neck! It certainly
wasn't his toe.

The ferret looked like a male, as it was fairly large (long). I noticed
that it seemed to always be licking its chops when it was on camera,
like it had just been given a treat. :). The only thing I found
annoying about the movie, was that usually when the ferret was on screen,
it was making this chittering noise like a chipmunk or something.
The least they could have done was get some "dook"ing sound effects,
which, while probably out of character for a ferret to be doing all
the time, would at least be an accurate sound.

Oh well. At least they didn't say it was a wild, rabid animal.
