I was wondering if someone could tell me more about a prolapsed rectum. I
took my ferret in with a prolapsed rectum, and the vet believes that it is
caused by incomplete removal of the scent gland. There is a pea sized
mass where the scent gland should be, which the vet thinks is a buildup of
the fluid.

What should I expect with this condition? The ferret is behaving normally
and does not have any problem going to the bathroom. He is a four year
old neutered male, and the condition is just now appearing. I am
wondering if this needs to be treated now and if the condition might progress.

Thank you for any input!
