THE cure for carpet digging is to buy some of that vinyl floor runner, the
kind that's clear, comes on a roll, and has little bumps on the bottom.
It's intended to serve as a place to put muddy shoes in the winter, and can
be cut with scissors. Simply cut corners out so it will fit under your
door and around the walls about 6". Then "install" it by sliding it under
the door, and voila!, they can't dig. This works great for any place with
wall-to-wall carpeting, and goes a long way to ensure that you will get
your deposit back!
