I would like to say that reading this list has brought me and my fieancee (Mi
ke) to a better understanding of our little ones. It was interesting to see th
at other ferrets dig at the carpet or crawl up in dresser drawers. One other t
hing i noticed is that someone said that their ferrets poop infront of the door
. (and of course the door opens in argh)
We have owned our ferrets for 2 to 3 years now. (we have one female, Tish, s
hort for Morticia, and one male, Milo) I was wondering if anyone had any advic
e on this. You see we have a litter box next to the door. (because no matter
what room they are restricted to they choose the spot near the door for their l
ittler box) We keep it scooped and we even cut one side so it had a l ow edge
for their little legs. They still poop out side of the litter box. (wh ich of
course is in front of the door) What we did at one point was to move th e pan
over a bit so there was a space next to the pan that was not in front of the do
or and we put paper down. But now the way the room is arranged doesn't leave a
ny space to move the pan over.
I know that the point is we should make them go in the pan and not provide a
place for them to go outside of the pan but they are sneaky. ;) While we are
in the room, (my fiancees bedroom), they are good, they go in the pan, but when
we are not there they poop infront of the door.(which is next to the pan) So
there is no way to dicipline them while they are committing the act. (ane we n
ever dicipline an animal after the fact)
I guess what I need to know is what can we do? It isn't like they can't make
it to the box it is right there, freshly scooped (because we already know how
they are about the cleanliness of their pan) :)
I know we could just rearrange the room so the pan could be moved back over b
ut the point is that we want to get them to not go outside of the pan at all. (
or atleast most of the time.)
                      -Thanks for any help
