Hi folks. Two questions:

1) Recommended ferret foods seem to be bandied around here quite a lot. My
wife and I were concerned with Ethoxyquin and BHA due to various rumors about
them being ferret carcinogens. Besides neither Malachai or Billy like Iams or
Science Diet. We had them on Pro Plan Turkey and Barley formula, but recently
discovered Nature's Recipe Optimum Feline Diet. Relevant stats are:
Crude Protein >= 32%
Crude Fat >= 15%
Taurine >= 0.1%
Protein comes from (in the following order) Chicken Meal, Ground Whole Brown
Rice, Ground Pearled Barley, Lamb Meal and Soybean Meal.

Is this sufficient for the continued good health of our two little weasels?
Comments gratefully appreciated.

2) We use Ferretone as a treat/food supplement for the little guys. They like
it better than Linatone (and it does have different ingredients). My question
is how much is enough? I know there can be a problem with Vitamin A
overdosing. The label recommends two pumps a day; I've heard ferret fanciers
say everything from that down to 2-3 drops per week! Some also recommend
mixing the Ferretone with Mineral Oil to keep down the Vitamin A
concentration. Such a broad band of answers has done nothing for my
confidence in knowing how much to feed them. So, cognoscienti of this mailing
list, how much is enough and when is enough too much?

Thanks!
