if they can't climb up the back and into the drawers (instead, they would
have to pull them open), i would use magnets in the front of the drawers.  i'm
using it for a nightstand that i have.  if they can climb up the back, nail
a piece of plywood under the desk.  we've used that for "armoring" our couches
so the carpet sharks don't get in them and it works perfectly.
