oh, a ferret restraining device is easy.  i had to use one when i was
first learning to clip the oh so sharp claws on my fuzzy...  now she
calms down a lot after getting a nip of ferratone ;>
 
so, get a really large (or not so large depending) magazine, open it up
to the center, lay ferret on magazine, and roll magazine up around
ferret.  basically, you make a slightly too tight tube and the victim er
patient is held still for a bit.  they can get out, so it's not a
permanent situation...
 
good luck getting them to hold still though :)
