It is even worse than you might believe here in the great and free state
of Mass.  Although it is illegal to own ferrets as pets ($500 fine and
immediate destruction of the animal - and yes, it is enforced) it is
quite legal to raise and slaughter them for their pelts.  Should anyone
every ask you about vets in this state, please give them my mailing address
and caution them NOT to contact the MSPCA (an otherwise very effective
organization).
 
On the other hand, if you hear from anyone in this area trying to get rid
of some babies...  My female needs someone new to play with and some friends
recently had a loss.  Please let me know.
