Hi I'm not an expert on this ond I don't breed or anything, but you will
definately know if you ferret is in heat.  It won't show up as a small
change.  Both of my ferrets, Brittany,( 3yrs)  and Abigail(8months), went
into heat about a month after I got them.  I got Abigail about August,
and when I first suspected that she was going into heat because I was
playing with her and got a wiff of that "smell".... And it took about
four more days and she was swollen up.  She had to go visit a dud stud
before I could have her spayed.   If your are sure that she hasn't been
spayed and you arn't going to breed, I would suggest that you look into
having it done.  I was lucky that the girl that I got my girls from has a
vasectomized ferret.  I don't think I could trust one of those shots, or
the other method that was suggested to make a ferret go out of heat (I
can't even mention the last one).
