Amy, concerning training...I have two gals that were not trained. I did put
them in the cage, with a litter pan. Then when they relieved themselves I
put the droppings in the corner of the litter pan. Then, they finally
started using it. There were a couple times they'd go in a corner but for
the most part they did well. Now they are fine. It only took a couple of
weeks.

But....I found out that we have to have a litter pan in each corner of every
rom they are allowed in. You may be able to get along with one per room. But
I'd start out with every corner til he got the idea down pat. :) I hope it
works.

I have to keep mine caged because I have lost two. It's just too nerve
wracking for me. But my house is old and not completely ferret-proof. :/

(Who's keeping my peepers open for an albino!)

And to Roy, Apology accepted, and it didn't bother me, I don't know her, and
live far away on the left coast. :)

And.........................

I was missing Mama for three days...and....

Now days later....a friend of my daughters' who's mom works for the Humane
Society found her in her garage. She didn't know who the owner was. She
checked the paper. Then Holli (the girl) brought her new ferret over. It was
 Mama.

I told her she was mine and Holli was horrified. Well, Mama had gained some
weight, looked very very lively and happy with Holli. I had to let Holli
keep her. She was doing some serious fighting with the others and hated
them. She was having alot of trouble with the other ferrets and she just
seemed to hate them, and my other animals.

I hope no one thinks I'm um...uncaring. It broke my heart to give her up.
However the family is excellent and finally she has her own house. No other
critters to spoil her fun. :) And the mom is the Humane Officer and is
excellent. She had already gone and bought the best food, ferretone, a big
cage, I showed her how to do a hammock. I know she will get the best care.

I cried, and still cry sometimes (alot) because I miss her....but I have to
think of her too. I can't be selfish with her happiness. Mama is obviously
happy. I have total confidence in her and her other family members.

Also, since Mama has been gone I have been a basket case, but....Nonni, Foxy
and Hobbs are SO much happier! The two have accepted Nonni 100 %. I don't
know why not before other than she was always with Mama. So I am SO SCARED
to ever let them out. I have decided not to. I'll crawl in the cage instead.
 <G> Can't do that huh?

I am setting up one room for "ferret visitation" <g> Seriously I am going to
set up the studio (my art stuff) just for letting them out etc. I'm going to
get those whatchamacallit things for under the door. That is apparently how
Mama got out before. A 3/4 inch opening in the window too. Now I have seen
it all. I'm just glad she's alive, and sad that she isn't here anymore, but
happy she's with them. They even bathed her already. :) With ferret shampoo.
I'm printing out all the info about ferries and giving them to her.

She's happier now. And I can go visit her anytime I want so...:) :')
